About Me: A Legacy of Stone, Craft, and Creativity

Hi, I’m Robin. Most people know me as Rob or Robby.

My working life began on construction sites, where long days, problem solving, and getting things right the first time were simply part of the job. That environment shaped how I work and think, and it eventually led me into architectural cast stone, a field I’ve been proud to work in since the early 1990s.

What started as a chance opportunity helping a customer soon became something much bigger. My double garage turned into a working workshop, and over time that small setup grew into a business producing architectural cast stone used on projects far beyond what I ever expected at the start. Innovation, practicality, and repeatable quality became the foundation of everything I did.

The 2008 financial crash was a turning point. Like many others, it forced a reset. It challenged how I viewed business, growth, and sustainability, and it ultimately reshaped my priorities. What came out of that period was a strong desire to preserve hard-earned knowledge and to share it in a way that others could actually use.

Cast Stone Pro exists for that reason.

It is a place to document techniques, materials, and methods that are often learned the hard way and rarely written down properly. Architectural cast stone has an enduring beauty and versatility, and when it is done well it can transform ordinary buildings into something timeless. I’ve spent decades working with it, refining processes, solving failures, and pushing its applications further, and this site is my way of passing that experience on.

Over time, those same skills naturally expanded into smaller-scale work. Mold-making, resin casting, model work, and practical DIY projects all draw on the same fundamentals. Working at different scales has sharpened my understanding and opened the door to a broader creative community, from professional makers to complete beginners.

Whether the project is a detailed craft piece or a full home renovation, I approach it with the same mindset. Understand the materials. Respect the process. Build things properly. My aim is to make these skills accessible without dumbing them down, so people can learn with confidence rather than trial and error alone.

In recent years, I’ve also stepped into the digital side of things. Learning website building, SEO, and content creation through the Wealthy Affiliate platform allowed me to bring decades of hands-on experience into a modern format. It gave me the tools to organise, document, and share knowledge in a way that reaches far beyond a workshop or building site.

Cast Stone Pro sits at the intersection of all of that. Real-world experience, practical craftsmanship, and the digital tools that make sharing possible.

If you’re here to learn about architectural cast stone, explore mold-making and craft techniques, or understand how traditional skills can translate into the digital world, you’re in the right place. This site is as much about preserving knowledge as it is about encouraging people to build, create, and think for themselves.
